BIOGRAPHY
JT Thomas is a versatile photojournalist with traditional roots in socially and environmentally concerned photography. His work has led him to Europe, Asia, South & Central America, Australia, New Zealand and repeatedly to the Northern latitudes of Alaska and Canada.
In 2004, JT Thomas was awarded the New York Times Merit Scholarship while in residence at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York City for his intimate look into the Economic & Social transformations of Central Harlem. A year later JT returned to rural Western Colorado and established a studio in the agricultural and coal mining town of Paonia.
Today, JT continues to document environmental and cultural issues with a special interest in Water & Energy Issues, Public Health, Wildland Conservation, Politics and Religion.
JT’s versatility and tirelessness as a photojournalist lends itself to his unique vision and intimate approach on any topic. His sense for narrative, poetic and sophisticated images, and his ability to get close to people of all walks of life, is his greatest joy. |
