| JT Thomas is a versatile photographer with traditional roots in socially and environmentally concerned photography. His work continues to lead him to all corners of the globe where he strives to practice creative, accountable journalism in image and print. JT Thomas is an award-winning photographer and science journalist who strives to produce images, multimedia and documentary films that give voice to those that are most often left without representation in domestic and global environmental challenges. With a background in environmental biology and sustainable development, JT frequently collaborates with scientists, politicians and artists in order to document the critical issues of our times with a human-interest, narratively-driven approach. The core of JT's work is the still image and visual literacy. And at the heart of his work is the "sense of place" each human possesses about the physical and spiritual terrain most precious to them. His work has appeared in the New York Times, WIRED, Smithsonian, High Country News, Discover Magazine, High Country News and been shown at the International Center of Photography and the United Nations. |
